What you need to know

In response to the growing opioid crisis across Canada, Direction 180 is dedicated to addressing the immediate and long term effects of opioid use and overdose in our community. Direction 180 partners with family physicians, nurse practitioners and medical staff in the community to build capacity and support the management of opioid use disorder in community settings. Increasing capacity among community prescribers through education, training, mentorship and ongoing support ensures timely access to opioid treatment, and reduces the risk of overdose, premature death, infectious disease, and criminality in communities across Nova Scotia.

Direction 180 works in collaboration with the Nova Scotia Physician Mentors, local Emergency Departments, and other opioid treatment programs and providers to ensure seamless treatment access.

Direction 180 supports community based opioid treatment through:

    • Harm Reduction Workshops
    • Staff Education and Training
    • Physician Mentorship
    • Urine Drug Screening
    • Treatment Agreements & Contracts
    • Office Policies and Procedures
    • Telephone Support
